Homelessness Awareness Forum

*** Note change of date ***

To acknowledge Homelessness Week 2021 the Fleurieu Community Foundation, in collaboration with other local agencies, will once again host a Homelessness Awareness Forum on Thursday 5th August at 6pm at the Chiton Rocks Surf Club.  This year’s theme is Everybody needs a home.

Everyone is welcome to attend the free event, where you will hear directly from local services that support those individuals and families that experience homelessness across the Fleurieu.

Did you know that over 400 women, men and children find themselves without a home, across the Fleurieu, every year? And did you know that the private rental market is so competitive in this region that up to 100 people are attending local open inspections for vacant rental properties?

Representatives from Junction Australia, who are the State Government funded providers of Homelessness support services in the region, will present at the forum as well as other local services who supply emergency relief, food, life sustaining support and supplies for those who find themselves in these tragic circumstances.

The Fleurieu Community Foundation, through its well-established Homelessness Fund, has been busy working to provide grants to organisations who aim to make an impact on the lives of those struggling with the "soul destroying" issue of homelessness.

To find out how you can help make a difference please register to attend the event using the link below, email: info@fleurieucommunityfoundation.org.au or phone 8552 2411.
