The FRRR Back to School Community Foundation Challenge program adds extra value to the Back To School general grants program, which the Foundation takes part in each year. Over our 3 year involvement with this worthwhile program the Foundation has distributed over $26,000 worth of vouchers assisting more than 700 students from 12 schools in the Flerurieu.

All donations to the Back To School Community Foundation Challenge are tax deductible.

Congratulations to.....

• Community Living Project Inc who made an applicationfor $400 in support of a young man from Goolwa who has Cerbral Palsy to set up a micro-enterprise project in the community. This young man has experienced barriers to gaining employment in the past, he will use the money to buy equipment to enable him to run a small lawn mowing round, become self relient and engage more meaningfully with the local community.
• Youth Opportunities Association (SA) Inc who were awarded $500 to help fund aYoung Personal Leaders Program with 18 Year 10 students from Eastern Fleurieu School in Strathalbyn. The program aims to build resiliency and motivation to achieve and re-engage with thier education, families and community. 

The Building Community Wellbing Grant Program aims to assist community groups to deliver community programs and projects that will improve the quality of life, independence and well being of people from within the Fleurieu Community, and reflect the Fleurieu Community Foundation’s Mission

 ‘Building a stronger and more resilient Fleurieu community’.

The Fleurieu Community Foundation in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay has just launched the second round of the ‘Wally Bradley Education Award’.

The Wally Bradley Award was established in 2012 to support young people aged 16-19 years who show initiative and commitment in their field of education or training, but who may also be experiencing difficulty in continuing their studies, or accessing education or training, due to hardship or disadvantage.

The Award is based on access and equity, and is not intended to be a merit award that just recognises academic achievement. Awards will be offered for an amount of $400 to assist with costs involved with education and training for courses commencing in 2014.

The Wally Bradley Award is available to young people who live in, or attend education or training in Victor Harbor, or who have other strong associations with Victor Harbor.

Applications for 2013 are due no later than COB  Friday 25 October 2013.

What a successful night, with just under $2000 raised for the Wally Bradley Award (supportig local young people to realise thier education or training goals) and other worthwhile local projects.

Thankyou to all who attended and supported the event - to local business for thier generous support in once again donating such wonderful prizes, to the EBFC for providing the venue and hosting the bar to warm the heart and lubricate the brain, and of corse to the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay. Special shout out to Board Director Peter Lewis, Quiz Master extraordinaire and Rotarian Mike Kelly for keeping on top of the scoring.

The cheque will go towards the Stay In Sport Program and is greatly appreciated as $1000 goes quite a way in providing support to disadvantd young people in our community. Thankyou to the small, but very enthusiastic Rotary Club of Yankalilla for your support.
